There are few doctrines which have caused so much division and misunderstanding in the church as the doctrine of baptism. It is clear that the various Protestant denominations have understood baptism differently. What is not so clear, especially to laypersons, is that no doctrine can be considered independently of the theological system of which it is a part. It is the purpose of this book to show the consistent relationships that exist among the various doctrines that comprise Lutheran theology. This book is not written with a ́hard sellî in mind. It is not intended that the reader be convinced that the Lutheran position of baptism is the correct one, merely that it is consistent with Lutheran theology. The author is a Lutheran and was a professor of theology for 30 years. It is doubtful that anyone could hide his or her bias in such a presentation, however, every effort has been made to present differing viewpoints as fairly as possible. ISBN: 0-943167-17-5.
